BANGALORE: With a BJP Mayor and a Congress deputy, the list of Kempegowda awardees may include about 100 names due to lobbying, according to sources in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike.
The BBMP is organising Kempegowda Jayanti on Friday. The award carries a purse of `15,000.
The sources said the plan was to stick to 75 names this year. “We have received more than 400 applications and recommendations. As Mayor B S Sathyanarayana is from BJP and Deputy Mayor Indira from Congress, the pressure is more this time,” they said.
In 2011, BBMP chose a record number of 234 recipients. Fifty and 103 people were given the award in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
