In a major development, the State government’s Advocate General K Ravivarma Kumar submitted his resignation to Chief Siddaramaiah late on Monday evening.

It is learnt that Kumar went to Chief Minister’s home office Krishna around 8 pm and submitted his resignation.

The exact reason for his resignation is not yet known. Efforts to reach him also failed.

However, a senior counsel said that Kumar was unhappy as the State government appointed two senior counsels to argue Cauvery and Krishna river water dispute cases in the Supreme Court without consulting him. He might  have felt that he would be answerable if the cases go wrong during the difficult times, he said.
