Abhinava Dance Company (ADC) has been constantly exploring creative ways to reach out to the global audience to showcase the essence of Indian dance. Their recent initiative towards this was a visit to Shanghai, China where they mesmerised the audience with their dazzling performance.

Rooted in the Indian dance tradition of Kathak and Bharathanatyam, this dance company has evolved its own distinct style of presentation by fusing ethnic and modern genres of dancing.

Speaking about the trip, Shamitha Raj, one of the dancers of the company, said, "It was a unique and beautiful experience for us. The directors and principal trainers, Nirupama and Rajendra, and our whole group had a wonderful opportunity of sharing our art with the audiences with two back-to-back performances — one for a textile expo and another for the Indian Embassy guests and Chinese audiences. The auditorium was packed with more than a thousand visitors."She further added, "Though unaware of our language, customs  and tradition, the Chinese encouraged us. The Indian Ambassador to China, Council General of India in China and the Chairman of Texprocil, who attended the programme, were amazed by the performance. The Chinese audience was highly appreciative of the Indian culture."

Other than India, the company has performed to audiences across Europe, North America, Australia, Africa and the Middle East.
