Bannerghatta police on Friday arrested a gang of six supari killers  who were allegedly planning to kill a worker of a political party over  a financial dispute.

The accused have been identified as Ramesh, Aru, Satish alias Lambu Satish, Arun Kumar, Harish and Mahesh. All, aged between 25 and 40 years, are the residents of Kalkere and Hulimavu.

The police said they rushed to a private hotel on Bannerghatta Main Road and nabbed the accused, who had booked a room in the hotel, based on a tip off by a local informer.

They were hatching a plan to kill Nagaraj Reddy (35), a resident of Kalkere. Reddy is very active in a politics and runs a money lending business, the police said.  Ramesh, also a money lender, had given `50 lakh to Reddy. He allegedly had a dispute with him over this. Ramesh had hired the gang buy paying `5 lakh as advance.

Ramesh had called Reddy to the hotel to settle the issue. Around 10.30 pm, the police arrested the accused. During the interrogation, Ramesh and other accused confessed to the crime.
