The HSR Layout police confirmed the arrest of four youths in connection with the gang-rape of a 23-year-old woman. The incident was reported on Saturday night near Bellandur near Whitefield.

The accused are Bahubali Subash (23), his relative Sheetal (22) of Haveri, Manjunath (24) of K R Pet in Mandya and Vinod Raj (23) of Arakere near Bannerghatta Road.

Sheetal works in a car showroom in Hoskote while the three others are labourers at a clinical research unit. The gang was hiding in a friend’s house in Hebbagodi after committing the crime. Police traced their mobile calls and arrested them.

Police said the gang had rented a house at Hagadur in Whitefield and got the contact number of the sex worker through an online escort agent.

On Saturday evening, Subash called her and, claiming to be alone, asked her to meet him. After she reached the spot, she noticed four men and tried to leave. But they dragged her into a building and raped her.

However, when she verbally abused Subash, they chased her and pushed her from the first floor of a building. Preliminary investigation revealed that none of the four have a history of crime. The victim had seperated from her husband. She had come to the city following a family dispute. On Tuesday, her husband and mother-in-law visited the hospital, police said.
