A 54-year-old woman, Gayatri, was found dead, with her throat slit, by her husband near Sarakki in JP Nagar.
Jai Prakash, who runs a medical shop about 2 km away from home, returned around 2 pm for lunch and left for the shop around 6 pm. When he returned home at 9.30 pm, he found the door wide open and Gayatri lying in a pool of blood at the foot of the staircase. According to police, it seemed like Gayatri was climbing the stairs when she was stabbed. However, Gayatri’s earrings were intact, the almirahs locked and all valuables in place, police said.
The West division police have recovered 2.544 kg of gold and 3.110 kg of silver worth `74.50 lakh.
Vijayanagar police arrested four accused hailing from Nepal — Arjun Bhahdur Thapa (27), Narendra Bhadur Thapa (35), Deepak Bahadur Thapa (28) and Jagath Bora — and recovered `68 lakh worth of gold and silver. Meanwhile, Kamakshipalya police arrested Sathish, who targeted lone women and stole their gold chains. They recovered `6.5 lakh worth of gold from him.
