BANGALORE: A 30-year-old software engineer was assaulted and robbed of his ATM card and mobile phone late on Tuesday night by two bike-borne miscreants.

According to Koramangala police, the victim, working in a private firm in Whitefield, was returning home at 11.15 pm and had just got out from his cab and was walking home when the miscreants stopped him.

“They beat him and threatened him, forcing him to give them his PIN to the ATM card. The gang then withdrew `52,000 from a nearby ATM. They also took away his phone,” Koramangala police said.

The police said that there was no CCTV camera anywhere near the Koramangala 60 Feet Road that can provide reliable details into the incident. However, they are trying to nab the miscreants using the mobile phone and by tracing the ATM card, police officials said.

The victim did not sustain any major injuries, police added.
