Techie Couple Robbed of Cash, Valuables

BENGALURU: Two bike-borne men threatened a techie couple at knifepoint and escaped with a gold chain, cash and a mobile phone.

The incident took place in HSR Layout near Bommanahalli on Sunday night.

Police said the incident took place around 11.30 pm. Rachita, a software engineer  came to the parking lot with her husband Chanchal Singh near their apartment at Rajiv Gandhi Nagar in HSR Layout. She was about to go to work in Electronics City and Singh had came to drop her off as she had a night shift.

As soon as they got in the car, two unidentified men came on a Honda Activa and threatened them with a knife and snatched Rachita’s gold chain.

Meanwhile, they gagged Singh and forced him to handover Rs 11,200 and his mobile phone before fleeing the scene. The couple, raised an alarm but found no one around the area. They then approached the police and filed a case.

Based on the CCTV footage, Bommanahalli police have obtained clues about the accused.

They suspect that known people are behind the incident.

2 Killed in Accidents

A 45-year-old man, who was riding a bike, died after he was hit by another bike rider man at Manyata Tech Park near Hebbal. Siddappa, a native of Raichur, was working with a private company, the police said.

In another accident, a 56-year-old pedestrian died after a speeding two-wheeler knocked him down at Laggere. Shantharaju was a painter by profession. The police have arrested the bike driver.
