TIRUCHY: Around 650 school students from 80 high and higher secondary schools participated in the district level drama competition held at Methodist Girls Higher Secondary School here on Friday.
The School Educational Department conducted the competitions for government, government-aided, self-financing, matriculation, Adi Dravidar welfare and Corporation school students of Classes 8 to 10 from the three educational districts under the title ‘Science and Society’, to inculcate a knowledge of science, and to encourage innovative skills among students.
A team of eight students from each school presented four listed topics: Food and nutrition, recycle for a greener future, life and work of scientists and harnessing renewable energy. The names of the winners will be announced on November 14 during the Children’s Day celebration, and the winners will be eligible to participate in the State level talent contest for the year 2014-15.
