Call to Appoint More Teachers for Pernambut Schools

VELLORE: The Pernambut Consumer Welfare Protection Society appealed to School Education Minister K C Veeramani to appoint postgraduate teachers in Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Pernambut in proportion to the student strength.

In a memorandum submitted to the Minister, president of the society T Basheeruddin, while welcoming various initiatives taken by the State government to upgrade schools and fill teacher vacancies in the State, wanted similar measures to be implemented for Pernambut area. According to him the Government Girls School with a strength of 1,800 students, including 800 in higher secondary class, has only 10 postgraduate teachers’ posts. It has one PG teacher for English and one PG teacher for Tamil, the latter lying vacant for several years.

Basheeruddin said that the post of PG chemistry teacher remained vacant, while there was no post of Director of Physical Education in the school. The post of secondary grade physical education teacher is also vacant.

The society urged the Minster to upgrade the Panchayat Union Elementary School (Urdu medium) into a middle school, the Panchayat Union Middle School in MGR Nagar in Pernambut into a high school and the Government High School in Bathalapalli into a higher secondary school.
