'Educate Farmers to Save Water'

BENGALURU: Governor Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala said dams and canals should be constructed for the benefit of the farmers and also to prevent flooding and wastage of water.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Krishi mela on Wednesday, he said there should be a flow chart for water distribution and congratulated the agriculture scientists for developing the high yielding Tur Dal BRG-T and groundnut KCG-6 varieties. 

Agriculture should be given more importance and farmers should be education about how to save water, the Governor said.

He also said the farmers get 50 per cent financial assistance for drip irrigation from the government in his home state Gujarat.
