Solving Infra Woes: Panel Gets Down to Business

BENGALURU: A cabinet sub-committee, headed by PWD Minister H C Mahadevappa, constituted to look into decongesting the roads in and around the city, will focus on improving physical infrastructure and promoting sustainable transport.

Addressing reporters here on Thursday, Mahadevappa said the committee, which held its maiden meeting, has decided to bring all agencies involved in the improvement of roads and infrastructure under one canopy to address the issue.

Maintaining that the city has seen phenomenal growth and the citizens are contributing largely to the state exchequer in the form of taxes, he said the high density of traffic and inadequate extension of road network are a hindrance to economic growth.

Stating that the state government is serious in finding a solution to the growing problem of congestion in the city, he said the principles and methodology that can be adopted were discussed at the meeting.
