Tailor Held for Raping Minor

BENGALURU: Police on Friday arrested a tailor who had gone missing after he allegedly raped a five-year-old girl.

The accused Rajanna owns a tailoring shop in Chikkabidarakallu near Chennakkipalya, and is said to have lured a girl from the neighbourhood with a chocolate and then raped her.

The incident came to light after her parents came home and found her crying because of a stomachache. Medical tests showed she had been raped. The parents filed a complaint at Peenya police station. Rajanna was arrested from near Nelamangala toll plaza, police said.

20-year-old Held

The police have arrested a 20-year-old man who allegedly raped an eight-year-old girl in M Hosahalli, under Bagalur police limits, on November 16.

The accused Vasanth is a daily wage worker and lives at Harijan Colony in M Hosahalli. He is the victim’s neighbour. The girl’s parents filed a complaint on Wednesday. Vasanth has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and has been remanded in judicial custody.

Vasanth is said to have lured the girl into his house with sweets on November 16. The victim did not confide in her parents immediately but the incident came to light when her teacher noticed changes in her behaviour. She underwent a medical test later.
