One-day Workshop Held for Women Entrepreneurs

BENGALURU: A one-day workshop was held in the city recently to discuss strategies on implementation of Industrial Policy 2014-19, which gives special thrust to women entrepreneurship.

The event was organised to draw a road pap for implementation of the policy and coincided with ‘International Women Entrepreneurs Day’.

In her inaugural address, K Ratna Prabha, Additional Chief Secretary , Commerce & Industries Department, called upon women to utilise their talent.

She also asked them to make the best use of incentives and concessions given to women entrepreneurs in the industrial policy.

She encouraged them to take up new challenges in the male-dominated industry and rise above traditional home-based businesses.

More than 100 women entrepreneurs took part in an open house discussion on various issues concerning entrepreneurial practice.

Some of the topics discussed were hand-holding first generation women entrepreneurs and addressing issues of access to finance and marketing assistance.

They also requested for a ‘women’s needs approach’ like providing internal transport, setting up of creches and other facilities in industrial areas.
