Government : Registration of Borewell is Must

BENGALURU: The state government has pulled up 35 taluks in 12 districts in the state for the overuse of groundwater, and has directed the director of the groundwater department to compulsorily register every borewell.

Before a borewell is drilled, one has to apply to the president of the Karnataka Groundwater Authority, or permission has to be obtained from the BWSSB. After applying for a licence, a geologist will inspect the spot, and then provide permission.

It has also came to the notice of the government that some private agencies and persons have been illegally collecting money from the public in the name of registrations. The public has been instructed not to fall for these acts. It further asked the public to register a complaint at the police station if they came across such elements.
