Inculcating Values Among Students Through an Oratorical Competition

CHENNAI: Gurushiksha 2014, an inter-collegiate and inter-school oratorical competition in English and Tamil on the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, will be organised as a mega event by Guru Nanak College on December 5, to commemorate the anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev.

The objective of the competition is to inculcate values in students through the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev, to uphold the principle of equality among all people, regardless of gender, caste or social status.

The oratorical competition will be held in two stages — preliminary and final rounds — starting on November 28 and ending with the finale on December 5.The topic for the preliminary round is ‘Impact of Guru Nanak’s Teachings on Human Values’ and the topic for the final round is ‘Relevance of Guru Nanak’s Vision on Cleanliness to a Swachh Bharat’. Cash prizes of `10,000/-, `5,000/- and `3,000/- will be awarded to the first, second and third place winners, for school and college separately. Ten consolation prizes of `1,000/- each will be awarded.
