BENGALURU: Yasmad anugraham labdhva mahadajnanamutsrejt Tasmai sridesikendraya namascabhistasiddhaye

Receiving his grace, one gives up great ignorance. Salutations to the highest Guru for the attainment of the object of desire.

Lord Shiva in this sloka reveals the state of the disciple who gets rid of the deep -rooted ignorance that has accompanied him since several lifetimes. When ignorance is gone, all 72,000 shaktis or nodal points potent with power get activated.

When ignorance disappears, the mind automatically becomes pure and reflects truth like a mirror. We attain Shiva himself who is the highest power. Iccha Shakti or power of will becomes prominent and comes to the fore. Discrimination will prevail and we know that Guru’s grace alone should be the object of highest desire. However, since we have desired for many things in the past, out of sheer ignorance, we discriminatively fulfill them just as we fulfill a child’s desire to eat a particular candy.

So, as soon as we get rid of our ignorance, the parachute of powers open up for our fulfillment and attainment which finally takes us to emancipation. Else, our soul will have to go to pitru loka after leaving the mortal coil and once again get caught in the cycle of birth and death.

Great Saint Ramakrishna Paramahamsa used to ask his devotees, “What is this madness of yours about money? Why such attachment to wife? Why such longing for name and fame? Give up all these now and direct your mind to God with complete devotion. Enjoy the bliss of God! God alone is real. ”

Only, when the Guru, who is ever pure, opens the eyes of knowledge, we can see everything clearly. We can see our future clearly before us. We will no longer have the attitude “I don’t care” or “No matter what, I want it …” We become free from maya. The Guru defines what we want so that we are blessed with the effort of multiplying what is required and completely eliminate all faults and negativity that is not required. The Guru clears away the untruth in us through his teachings and satsanghs.

Through viveka or discrimination, we will be able to discriminate between a snake and a rope. Our life becomes completely fragrant with wisdom. Now, we will know that if at all we want anything, it is only the Guru’s grace, which leads us towards obtaining the ultimate.
