BANGALORE: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have solved a case for which the city police had filed a B report, due to lack of evidence. Glass jewellery worth a total of Rs 6.5 lakh was recovered from Veda Nupur’s home in Subramanyapura after her husband Basavaraj tipped the CCB off about her plans to sell the jewellery. On raiding the house, the police were able to recover the jewellery.
The case was first registered in C K Achukattu Police Station in February last year when Basavaraj’s mother Shanthakumari first filed a case against Veda Nupur (27), alleging robbery. Basavaraj (33) and his wife Nupur were having frequent fights. Soon after, Nupur filed a case of dowry harassment.
“The case dragged on and although we raided Nupur’s house, the investigating officer at the time was unable to detect the jewellery. With the case in court, the High Court directed us to file a report in 15 days. Since we did not have any evidence, we filed a B report in June this year (2014),” the police said.
