First City School to Open Students' Savings Account

CHENNAI: Narayana E-Techno School, Arumbakkam became the first school in Chennai to initiate the Students’ Savings Account scheme under the Prime Minister’s saving scheme for students.

Principal Sapna Sankhla welcomed chief guest Mervin Alexander, post master general, Chennai region and other invitees at a function organised on the school premises. The chief guest distributed passbooks and piggy banks to 30 students.

Speaking on this occasion Mervin highlighted various saving schemes for students. He emphasised saving resources, which he stated was more important than money. The students opened their first savings bank accounts by depositing `50 from their pocket money.  It was an efficient way to inculcate the value of saving for a rainy day.
