BESCOM Now Gets 1MW Solar Power

BENGALURU: Power distribution utility BESCOM on Monday announced that it had achieved 1 MW of solar power generation after the inauguration of the Solar Rooftop PV System on November 7 last year.

Initially, the scheme saw few takers but it has now managed to register 409 online applications with a total proposed solar capacity of 19 MW, the company said in a statement.

Major contributors include educational institutions like St Joseph’s College (100 Kwp), NIAS (100Kwp) and Karnataka State Cricket Association with close to 400 Kwp of solar rooftop PV capacity.

“BESCOM has also invited applications for ‘Request for Empanelment’ of facilitators for promoting implementation of grid connected Solar Rooftop PV programme for a period of one year extendable up to three years from stakeholders,” a statement said.
