Horseback Safari on City Roads Seeks to Kindle Interest in Riding
QUEEN’S ROAD: Bangalore Horse Riding School organised a horseback Safari on June 14 which took its riders from the Bangalore Horse Riding School via Yelahanka, Rajanukunte towards Hesaraghatta farm. Having set up the school at the beginning of 2014, Navneeth Vihaan Raj tells us more about the school and the horseback safaris.
Why a horseback safari?
In the recent years, we have been conducting the horseback safari, to create awareness about riding. There are many advantages of horseback riding and it is a very nice way to connect with one of nature’s finest animals.
We at Bangalore Horse Riding School have personally got the feedback from many parents of our riders that an over all positive change has been observed.
Aggression level in an otherwise aggressive child has gone down many notches. An increase in compassion towards all animals has been noticed. An introverted, quiet child has become more forthcoming.
There has been an increase in confidence levels and appetite. Weight loss has been observed in an obese child who is now more observant and alert. And also, there has been a marked reduction in TV/Internet time. There is more patience, better reflexes and many more positive changes.
Tell us about the safari route. How many have signed up for this activity? And what are the demographics?
We have started our ride from the Bangalore Horse Riding School via Yelahanka, Rajanukunte towards Hesaraghatta farm. Horseback safaris are rides through rural landscape and horses will walk, trot and canter. Horseback safaris provide a very unique adventure and a beautiful opportunity to enjoy the rural sights on horseback.
As for the riders, we have 15 members who have joined us. We have riders from all age groups, from a nine-year-old child to men and women in their 50s. We are committed to provide affordable riding sessions for riders of all ages.
Could you tell us more about horseback riding?
Horseback riding is a leisure activity, a sport and a lifelong hobby for riders of all ages. Whether one chooses to enter the world of competition or simply enjoy a day in the country side on horseback, it will give you a lifetime of pleasure. An ardent horse rider once said “Horses lend us the wings we lack”.
Unlike many sports, horseback riding does not demand athletic aptitude or single-minded dedication, nor is it necessary to have learnt to ride as a child in order to be a good horseman or horsewoman in later life. Riding is an activity in which the learning process never stops. From the day you first mount a horse to the day you hang your riding boots, you will always find that you are discovering new things, new aspects of the riding technique.
To an observer, horseback riding may look like all the rider has to do is just sit on the saddle but there is much more to horseback riding than one might expect. The benefits of horseback riding are immense in the physical, mental and emotional realm.
