BENGALURU: A 24-year-old woman and her daughter were found dead under suspicious circumstances in the toilet of their house in in Shanthi Layout near KR Puram on Saturday.
Police suspect they might have suffocated due to LPG leakage from a cylinder kept in the toilet. The deceased have been identified as Pushpa, wife of Dinesh, and their two-year-old daughter Suraksha.
Police said the incident took place in the afternoon, when Dinesh, was in his grocery store in the locality. He returned to the house as his calls to Pushpa’s mobile phone remained unanswered. He found the main door open and then found that the toilet’s door was latched from inside. He broke open the door to find the victims’ bodies.
Dinesh alerted the neighbours and KR Puram police were informed about the incident. The bodies were taken to postmortem.
A senior police officer said, “We have found no injuries on the deceased and we suspect they might have suffocated due to LPG leakage. The toilet has no ventilation. We are waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the cause of death.”
