Gang Chases, Stabs Man to Death in Possible Revenge Saga

BENGALURU: The area near HAL market witnessed high drama on Sunday when a gang of four men chased a 25-year-old man and stabbed him to death.

Tension prevailed around the area after the incident and locals staged a protest demanding that the accused be arrested soon. The locals said police have failed to maintain law and order in the area.

The deceased has been identified as Abdullah of Hosur, who was in judicial custody from 2013 for his involvement in a rape case. Abdullah was released from jail a few days ago.

He was in the city to attend a hearing in a court last Friday and was staying with his brother. He was to return to Hosur on Sunday evening. Police said the gang cornered him around 9.30 am when he had come alone to have tea at a nearby hotel.

The men, who were on separate vehicles, attacked him in public view. But Abdullah managed to run away and the gang chased him for a while before catching up with him. They then stabbed him repeatedly with a sharp weapon.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the brother of the rape victim could be behind the attack and the murder could have been an act of vengeance. A special team has been formed to nab the accused.
