Musical Tribute to Classical Legends

Concerts, seminars and lecture-demonstrations will be held at Bangalore Gayana Samaja from August 14 to 16

KR ROAD: Bangalore Gayana Samaja presents Vaadya Vaibhava 2015, a musical tribute to mridangam vidwan M L Veerabhadraiah and veena vidwan V N Rao on their birth centenary, from August 14 to 16.

At 6 pm on Friday, there will be a concert by Suma Sudhindra (veena), Nalina Mohan (violin), B C Manjunath (mridangam), S N Narayana Murthy (ghata). On Saturday, U Rajesh (mandolin), Mysore V Srikanth (violin), Bangalore V Praveen (mridangam) and Giridhar Udupa (ghata) will perform.


At 10 am on Sunday, there will be a lecture-demonstration titled Vainika and Gayaka - The Equation by veena artistes Jayaraj and Jayashree from Chennai; a seminar on the life and works of M L Veerabhadraiah by A V Anand and another on the life and works of V N Rao by Vimala Rangachar.

At 6 pm, there will be a felicitation ceremony honouring mridangam maestro T K Murthy with Lifetime Achievement Award and the title Nada Sri. Nadoja G Venkata Subbiah will honour the artiste.

At 7 pm, there will be a performance by Vinyasa Percussion Ensemble, Anantha Krishna (mridangam), Mannargudi Vasu (tavil) and Sundar Kumar (khanjira).
