3 Drug Peddlers Nabbed

BENGALURU: Three people were arrested on Tuesday by Central Crime Branch police for selling drugs near colleges. They are Manikantan (24) from Lottegollahalli, Dibeyand Roy (26) from Meenaznagar, and Jaag Sai Pravesh (23) from Chennai.

Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed Manikantan when he was trying to sell drugs near Devegowda petrol bunk. Police sources said the accused claimed to have purchased the drugs online from Agoramarketplace.com. The website, however, claims to sell antiques, collectibles, family heirlooms and antique dealer inventory.

According to police sources, the accused transferred money online to purchase ecstasy pills. Other drugs were brought to the city from Chennai.

A police official, who was part of the investigation, said, “Two months ago, we received information about drugs being sold near a college. We started the probe and police officials were deployed in mufti. An informant contacted the drug dealer and asked him to come near Devegowda petrol bunk. We nabbed him here. We are now investigating the website.”

He said the ecstasy pills in India are either in the form of crystals or powder. But the accused were in possession of ecstasy tablets. A gram costs up to Rs 15,000. Police officials have seized material worth Rs 2,20,000.
