BENGALURU: As many as 31,638 cases were settled in Lok Adalats held across the state on Saturday. These include the 18,424 pending cases and 13,214 pre-litigation cases. The total settlement amount was `321.95 crore.
According to Justice N K Patil, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Executive Chairman of Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, the Lok Adalat was held on issues such as those pertaining to banks, cases under Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act and recovery suits.
“The settlement of a large number of cases such as recovery suits and cases under Negotiable Instruments Act has helped reduce the pendency of cases and has benefited the clients,” Justice Patil said.
The next monthly Lok Adalat will be held on September 12, in which cases related criminal and compoundable offences will be taken up.
