11 Runaway Children Rescued

Yeshwanthpur police, along with NGO Saathi rescued 11 boys who had run away from their homes for various reasons.

BENGALURU: Yeshwanthpur police, along with NGO Saathi, on Thursday rescued 11 boys who had run away from their homes for various reasons. The NGO handed over the children to their parents.

Police said the boys are aged between 10 and 15 years. Four of them were from Karnataka, four from Uttar Pradesh and three from Bihar. All the children belonged to poor families. According to sources, some of the boys said that they ran away because they were being beaten by their parents. One of the boys said he was beaten by a teacher as he was not going to school regularly.

Man Stabs Wife, Self

A 46-year-old employee of an MNC attempted suicide after stabbing his wife over a family dispute at their apartment in Kodihalli in Jeevan Bhima Nagar on Thursday.

Both the husband and wife have been admitted to a hospital and are said to be recovering now. Police said Arbind Chakravarthi stabbed Smita Das, 37, in the afternoon after they quarrelled over a trivial issue. Seeing her lying in a pool of blood, he then stabbed himself.
