INFANTRY ROAD:If it’s August, then it has to be time for the Annual Cottage Mela organised every year by the Central Cottage Industries Emporium. This year, the Mela is being organised till August 23 at Safina Plaza, Infantry Road from 10 am to 7 pm.

Every year the Mela provides an insight into the rich and varied art and craft traditions of India and the exchange between artisans and visitors.

This time too, around 30 artisans who are state and national awardees from various parts of India are participating in the event with their unique crafts.

On display are exquisite jewellery pieces, paintings, metal ware, woodcraft, carvings, art objects, marble craft, women’s wear, men’s wear, handloom dress fabrics and sarees from Jaipur, chikan embroidered kurtas from Lucknow, shawls, silk kurtas, scarves and jackets to name a few from Kashmir. 

Exquisite Cottage furniture that is famous across the world,  Dhokra brass crafts from Delhi and Pottery from Khurja, U.P will be on display also. This Cottage Mela is yet another step by CCIE to encourage craft persons to present their creations to  discerning buyers from all parts of the globe.
