Campaign to Get the City to Cast its Vote

BENGALURU:  ‘Candidate Nodi, vote Maadi’, an online promotion campaign aimed at encouraging voters to pick the right candidates in the upcoming BBMP elections has been launched by a non-profit organisation, Citizens Action Forum, and CIVIC News App, an Android-based platform for local news and communities.

Briefing reporters on Thursday, K Narayan, CEO of Civic News App, said candidates have been asked to update their profiles on the app till August 21 evening. Through this app, voters can select a particular ward and get to know the contesting candidates.

Candidates Without Criminal Records

A survey by the groups revealed that the respondents’ top requirements were the need to have BBMP candidates without criminal records (4.7 on a scale of 5), an effective platform to connect citizens and corporators (4.6 on 5) and encroachment-free footpaths.

The survey was done both online and offline to understand what issues Bengalureans really want to be redressed, he added.

The online survey, conducted from August 14 to 19, had 1,500 participants. The offline survey was sent to resident welfare associations across the city and 84 of them responded, said Narayana.
