BDA Likely to Notify 5,000 Flats in a Fortnight

BENGALURU:The Bangalore Development Authority (BDA) will soon issue a notification for the allotment of 5,100 flats in the city.

A BDA official said the flats would be 1BHK (bedroom, hall, kitchen) and 2BHK in Doddabanahalli, Kengeri, Alur, Kaniminike.

“New flats are being constructed in these four areas and in Kommaghatta and Nagarbhavi,” he said.

The prices of the flats have not been finalised as new rates will be fixed during a board meeting, which may take place next week.

“The process has suffered a three-week delay due to the model code of conduct, but things will get rolling soon. We hope to put out the notification regarding the allotment of these flats within a fortnight,” the official said.

There will be 3,100 2BHK, 1,500 1BHK and 500 3BHK flats, he said. The ones being constructed now will be notified too. However, it will take 12 to 14 months to hand over the new house to the applicant. This includes the time given for the allotments to be made and an eight-month period for payments to be made by the applicant.

“The new constructions would be completed within 14 months,” he said. Once the notification is out, a one-month deadline is given to submit the applications. The application forms would be issued through specified banks and these can be submitted through the same banks, the official said.

The eligibility criteria generally followed by the BDA in allotment of its sites will be followed here. One of the criterion listed in its website is that the individual must be a resident of the state for at least 15 years prior to the date of registration. Also, he or she should be above 18 years of age and the applicant or any family member should not own a site provided by BDA or any cooperative society registered under the Karnataka Cooperative Society Act, 1959.
