BBMP Brings Down Illegal Shops

Officials said the shops were occupying space illegally, and many of them had not paid taxes of Rs 1.72 crore, since 1987.

BENGALURU: Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) officials on Monday razed down several shops at the APMC office at Kalasipalya.

Officials said the shops were occupying space illegally, and many of them had not paid taxes, amounting to a total of Rs 1.72 crore, since 1987.

The operation started at 6 am and the authorities were accompanied by the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force personnel. The authorities also sealed 21 shops at the Public Utility Building.
