BENGALURU: With the BBMP results set to be announced on Tuesday, the police have made elaborate security arrangements in and around the 27 counting centres across the city.
Several senior IPS officers, including 16 DCPs, are supervising the arrangements.
Police Commissioner N S Megharikh told reporters on Monday that about 8,500 personnel, including civil police, 62 KSRP platoons and CAR personnel have been deployed around the counting centres, where a large number of candidates’ supporters are expected to gather come morning.
“The police will keep an eye on everyone entering the counting centres. Twenty-five ambulances and as many fire tenders too are being deputed,” Megharikh said.
Police have also clamped prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC from the wee hours of Tuesday till midnight.
All pubs, bars and shops selling liquor have been asked to down their shutters from 6 am to midnight.
“People have been asked not to gather in groups around the counting centres and not to carry weapons,” he said.
