Rs 23K Collected From Dasarahalli Eateries for Not Segregating Waste

BBMP authorities collected Rs 23,000 in fines from various hotels and eateries in Dasarahalli zone for not segregating their waste.

BENGALURU:Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities on Thursday collected Rs 23,000 in fines from various hotels and eateries in Dasarahalli zone for not segregating their waste.

The Palike’s health officials visited a few hotels in the zone and found that they had given mixed waste to the pourakarmikas.

While Rs 5,000 each was imposed as fine on Cafe Coffee Day on Hesaraghatta Main Road and Green Park Bar on NH4, other hotels were asked to pay a fine anywhere between Rs 1,500 and Rs 3,000.

The BBMP is observing this month as ‘Segregation Awareness Month’ and is creating awareness through various programmes, including street plays, a source told Express.
