Man Assaults Head Constable

BENGALURU:  A head constable attached to the Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police was assaulted by a man near Vasanthapura Cross near Kanakapura Road on Wednesday night.

The accused, Naveen Gowda, is a resident of JP Nagar and a BBMP contract worker.  Police said head constable Narayanappa was manning the Vasanthapura Cross signal when Gowda, who was riding a two-wheeler, brushed past a car. This led to an argument between Gowda and the car driver.

Since the duo were arguing with their vehicles parked in the middle of the road, this led to a traffic snarl. Narayanappa, who rushed to the spot, asked the duo to remove their vehicles so that the jam could be cleared.

Gowda, in a fit of rage, started raining blows on Narayanappa, who fell to the ground. The public rushed to his help and informed the Subramanyapura police, who shifted Narayanappa to a hospital. Subramanyapura police later arrested Gowda. A case has been registered in this regard.
