Trouble for DVS Over Grant of Land

BENGALURU: Two persons, including an RTI activist, filed a complaint against Union Law and Justice Minister D V Sadananda Gowda and others with the Lokayukta police under the Prevention of Corruption Act in connection with sanction of 10 acres of gomala land to Mythic Society.

RTI activist Jayakumar Hiremath and Hanumegowda, a resident of Ranganathapura, filed the complaint against Gowda, Yelahanka MLA S R Vishwanath (BJP), the then Deputy Commissioner M K Aiyappa, Tahsildar Venkatesh, office bearers of Mythic Society and others.

In the complaint filed with Bengaluru Lokayukta Superintendent of Police, the complainants accused them of grabbing the land on the pretext of sanctioning the same to Mythic Society. The gomala land (measuring 10 acres in Survey No.79, in Avalahalli village, near Yelahanka in Bengaluru North Taluk) was sanctioned to Mythic Society when Sadananda Gowda was the CM, as against five acres sought by MLA Viswanath for the society.

They alleged that both former CMs Gowda and B S Yeddyurappa had sanctioned land indiscriminately to the RSS during their tenure. The sanction of land to Mythic Society is one such instance for it, they stated.

If land is required for the Society, it should have directly requested the government for the same, they added.

However, MLA Vishwanath submitted the requisition for land to the then DC Aiyappa, who in turn wrote directly to the government for sanction of land. Tahsildar Venkatesh submitted the report favouring  sanction of the land, they alleged.

The complainants stated that the sanctioned land was part of 103 acres of gomala land. The market value of the land is about `3 crore per acre whereas the government value is about `60 lakh per acre.

Although the Revenue Department had sanctioned only five acres, the Gowda, who was the CM then, signed the note sanctioning 10 acres acres to Mythic Society at a cost of 30 per cent of the guidance value on October 13, 2011.

All this shows the conspiracy hatched by Gowda, Vishwanath, Aiyappa, Venkatesh and office bearers of Mythic Society. The Lokayukta police should take action against them under Prevention of Corruption Act, the complaints appealed.

Lokayukta police are yet to take action on it.
