BENGALURU: A group of like-minded people started ‘Selfie with Kasa’(Selfie with Garbage) initiative to draw attention of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) authorities towards littering or dumping spots.

Rakesh Maiya, a tele-serial actor, said he, along with some like-minded people, started the Facebook page ‘Selfie with Kasa’ earlier this month. “We are urging people to post selfie pictures along with garbage and its location. The idea behind this is to involve people,” he said. “We want to tell people how much waste is being dumped across the city,” he added.

Hundreds of people have already started liking the page, while some of them started posting pictures too. “We are also posting messages related to waste segregation at source and littering,” he said.

“These days selfies are a trend. People click selfies for everything at every place. Why not for a cause,” he said.

Arun (name changed), who liked the page and did not want to reveal his identity, said that this is a good initiative. “Through we are skeptical whether the government or BBMP will act just on the basis of a selfie. Selfies are normally clicked and treated lightly. We hope the government will act,” he said.
