You Can Do It

Paper clip  bookmarks

Though a few avid readers have moved on to reading e-books – either to save paper or to avoid carrying books – there are others who still prefer reading them in the traditional way. Bookmarks play an important role for the latter. While a fancy bookmark or a simple card is used by most of them, ubiquitous paper clipscan also be helpful to the ones who find it tedious to make sure that it doesn’t fall.

I tried a quick method to make a fancy one using clips.

On my last trip to India, I had picked up some wooden beads in the shape of butterflies. But I could not bring myself to make earrings out of them. I simply gathered different materials from my stash to experiment and get the best design.

Things needed

● 3-D stickers

● Big button

● Super Glue

● A pair of scissors

● Big paper clips

Here, I have put a little super glue to the wooden butterfly bead and allowed the clip to rest on the large button so that it sticks well.

It takes a while to dry.

I tried using 3-D baby stickers too. But could not get the best result. It is because the sticker already has a sticky surface and sticking it to a smooth surface of the paper clip is tricky. The wooden surface on the contrary works well because of its unevenness.

Let the glued clips dry for an hour or two.

Your bookmarks, or fancy book clips, are ready to use.

I have used them here to put together the stock of postal envelopes which I will use for crafts soon.

You can also add a lace flower or paper to these butterfly clips. You can either use them yourself or make a few, put them in an old jewelry box and gift them to a friend.
