BENGALURU: A sand-laden lorry knocked down a bike, killing a 38-year-old woman, who was riding pillion on it, and severely injuring her daughter, who was riding the bike, at B K Halli Gate Junction on Sunday morning.
The deceased is Jayanthi, a house-keeping staff in a factory at BK Halli. She and her daughter Lavanya, residents of Hunasuru Layout in Chikkajala, were on their way home after attending prayer at a church. When the truck, heading towards the city, rammed the scooter Jayanthi fell down and was run over.
Lavanya, fell on the other side and sustained injuries. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she is said to be out of danger.
The driver abandoned the truck and fled. Chikkajala police said Lavanya is a PU student at a college in Yelahanka.
