BENGALURU: A three-member gang attacked a woman and burgled her house in Malleswaram on Sunday.

The victim, Nagalakshmi (50), and her husband Sampath Kumar (55) live in the house. Around 2.30 pm, Sampath Kumar was out to buy flowers when a stranger entered their home and told Nagalakshmi that her servant had met with an accident and was in a hospital.

When Nagalakshmi took her mobile phone to call Sampath, two other persons entered the house, sprayed pepper on her and tied her to a chair. They demanded money from her. When she said there was no money in the house, two of the burglars went in search and grabbed a few valuables.

One man stood guard near the door and alerted the others when he saw Sampath approaching the house. All three of them then fled.

By then, Nagalakshmi also managed to raise alarm. The Hoysala which was patrolling in the area responded to the alarm call and chased the thieves. However, as all three of them had run off in different directions, police failed to catch any of them.

Police suspect the servant was involved in the robbery. They are searching for the servant, who has been missing since Sunday afternoon.
