BENGALURU: The High Court on Tuesday issued notice to the Commissioner of the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) and the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) in connection with a PIL filed by a resident of city, seeking directions for removal of encroachments of footpaths.

The vacation bench of Justices Anand Byrareddy and P S Dinesh Kumar issued the notice after hearing a petition filed by Geetha Misra, a resident of Rajajinagar.

The petitioner’s counsel, G R Mohan, appealed to the court to issue directions to BBMP and BMTF to ensure that footpaths are free of encroachments. He referred to the encroachment of the footpath and a storm water drain at 17th Main, 3rd Block, Rajajinagar. The encroachment by bunker shops causes nuisance to the residents and the public in the area.
