Rape Accused Seer Skips Hearing

BENGALURU:  The City Sessions Court on Tuesday posted the hearing of the case of rape against Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi to January 16 as he failed to appear before the court on Tuesday.

The Sessions Court had issued a summons notice to the seer in November.

Lawyers representing the seer said that he had taken ill after participating in the Vaikunta Ekadashi celebrations and requested the judge to excuse his absence.

The judge, meanwhile, directed the lawyers to ensure the seers’ presence during the hearing on January 16. Lawyers representing CID police have urged the court to ensure that the seer is present as he had not cooperated during the medical examination and questioning.
