BENGALURU: Upa Lokayukta Justice Subhash B Adi, against whom some Congress members had launched a campaign, is overseeing probe in many high-profile cases, involving politicians and top officers.
Justice Adi had taken a tough stand on the alleged extortion racket within the institution too, by ordering an internal probe against the wishes of then Lokayukta Justice Y Bhaskar Rao, who had written to the government, seeking a probe by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). Justice Adi was in favour of a probe by an independent agency.
Sources said the Upa Lokayukta is also looking into cases related to sugar factories and many big real estate developers. In fact, he had held a meeting with Deputy Commissioners in North Karnataka and directed them to act against sugar factories that have failed to clear dues to farmers.
