BENGALURU:  North East division police claimed that they have solved a case of kidnap by arresting a man.

The police rescued a 17-year-old victim, a PU student, and recovered the car that was used for the crime within five hours.

A senior police officer said the incident took place around 7.30 am when the student along with his classmate were going to college on a bike. When they were passing Harohalli Tank bund, a gang of four came in a car and obstructed their bike. One of them assaulted the victim before kidnapping him.

The victim’s friend approached Yelahanka New Town police. The police traced the mobile network of the accused and chased them. Around afternoon, the car of the accused was found near Hesaraghatta bus stand while the victim was found tied with a rope near a eucalyptus grove at Kodihalli.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the car was rented and the accused had demanded ransom.

According to the police, the victim’s father is constructing a house worth `1.5 crore, this might have provoked the accused to plot the kidnap. A person known to the family might be involved, they added. The police are looking out for three other accused who are absconding.
