Jaywalkers Beware, Traffic Cops are Watching You

BENGALURU: The traffic police have launched a campaign to prevent jaywalking near the K R Market Circle. Despite such campaigns being held in the past, jaywalking resurfaced, forcing the drive.

Initially the police will start educating the people against jaywalking, as most offenders are illiterates. Announcements are being made near the circle to ensure people use sub-ways to cross the road. The region is also one of the most densely populated areas and traffic is affected by jaywalkers.

S Girish, DCP (Traffic-West) told Express that the campaign was launched on Monday and will continue for a few weeks until people are sensitised against crossing roads in a haphazard manner. “Movement of people in the busy Market is totally chaotic. By undertaking the drive, we are attempting to bring some order and discipline among pedestrians,” he said.
