Assistant Commissioner claims employees are planning to fix him in a false case

BENGALURU:  The tussle in Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagar Palike’s Advertisement and Revenue departments is becoming uglier by the day as the low ranking officials and assistant commissioners continue their mudslinging.

The latest tiff began with some officials accusing K Mathai, Assistant Commissioner, Revenue Department of harassing them.

Mathai is now contemplating to write a letter to BBMP Commissioner and the City Police Commissioner seeking protection from his own employees.

“I have been informed by the intelligence department that the employees are planning to fix me in a false case of harassment against women and also for passing casteist remarks. Hence I will give a complaint to the Police Commissioner on Thursday and BBMP Commissioner also will be kept in the loop,” he said.

Mathai added that earler, he had sought protection and the installation of Closed Circuit Cameras at the entrance of his office premises.

“I have already sent two letters in the past regarding the advertisement tax issue. Ever since I took up this matter, I have been facing obstacles. Hence I asked for protection and the installation of CCTVs. The irony is that the one existing camera at veranda does not function. Hence I will send a reminder to the BBMP commissioner to look into the matter,” he added.

‘Media Crazy’

The BBMP employees association however has rejected this accusation and said Mathai is doing this to gain mileage through the media. “He is crazy about media attention and hence makes loose statements,” said an association member.
