Liquor Sales See Spike in December

BENGALURU: The State Excise Department has stated that 49.48 lakh cases of Indian Made Liquor (IML) were sold in the state in the month of December, compared to 46 lakh cases in November.

The department’s statistical officer said every December, the sales usually touch 49-50 lakh.

“Each case contains 8.64 litres of hard liquor. Also, 20 lakh cases of beer were sold in the month of December across the state. Each case holds 7.8 litres,” said A S Vishwaroop, Joint Commissioner, State Excise Department.  He also said the department earned `1,120 crore in revenue in December and  the revenue garnered so far from April 2014 is `9,940 crore.
