Shopkeeper Robbed of Cash, Chain

BENGALURU: A 35-year-old textile shop owner in Akshaya Nagar was robbed of his cash and valuables on Thursday.

The victim, identified as Sunil, was downing the shutters of his shop when the robbers approached him from behind, pushed him inside the shop, and gagged and tied him up.

They took away `35,000 that was kept in the shop and one gold chain. They left Sunil inside and fled the scene after pulling down the shutters. After struggling for a few hours, Sunil managed to free himself and called his sister, who, in turn, called the police.

Sunil told the police that the two men were talking in Hindi and also provided their description to the police. A case has been registered in Ramamurthy Nagar station.

Man Charged Under POCSO Act

Basaveshwarnagar police have registered a case under the POCSO Act against 21-year old Umesh Nayak, who eloped with his 16-year-old neighbour. According to police sources, the two had been seeing each other for a while. They  eloped three days ago.

The parents of the girl filed a missing person’s complaint, based on which the police traced the two to Chitradurga.
