25 in Judicial Custody for Violence Outside School

BENGALURU: The 25 people  arrested for rioting after the alleged sexual assault on a seven-year-old girl were produced before the court.

They have been remanded to a 14-day judicial custody.  On Wednesday, a school was vandalised and several policemen were injured in the violence that broke out outside a school in New Guddadahalli off Mysore Road.

A senior official told Express that the J J Nagar police recorded the victim’s statement before a magistrate as per Section 164 of the CrPC on Friday.

The police are also on the lookout for other culprits who are absconding.

On Friday, police personnel were deployed in riot-affected areas such as Hosaguddadahali, J J Nagar, Byatarayanapura, Manjunatha Nagar and surrounding areas.

Sources said the police is still verifying the CCTV footage for images of those involved in the riot.

Some of the men are believed to have come from the neighbouring areas.

Once arrested, these men will be booked for disturbance of law and order in the area.
