UVCE Stands Sixth in Go Kart Championship

BENGALURU: Team eMpower-UVCE from University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering (UVCE) has secured the overall sixth place out of 90 teams in the National Go Kart Championship 2014 held in Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore from October 17 to 19, 2014. 

The competition was organised by the Indian Society for New Era of Engineers (ISNEE).

The team also secured the seventh position in the pre-final round where the design was presented.

The team, under the guidance of N Lakshmana Swamy, chairman, Department of Mechanical Engineering, and H C Chittappa, assistant professor and faculty advisor of eMpower-UVCE, designed and fabricated the racing vehicle without any professional help. 

The 23-member team, with Mohammed Aamir as captain and Yashas Shetty as vice-captain, took six months to build the Go Kart. The total cost of the project was Rs.80,000.

It was sponsored by Foundation for Excellence, UVCE Foundation and Vision UVCE.
