Community Halls Without Licences Shut Down

BENGALURU: Health officials from the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s east zone have begun a drive to shut down community centres and party halls running without trade licences. Four such halls were closed down on Monday.

Dr Savitha, BBMP health officer, east zone, said they have identified 29 such buildings in their zone. Most of them don’t have a trade licence, while some have not renewed theirs for several years. “We have issued notices to these offenders. Eleven of them have come forward to obtain valid licences,” she said.

She said they will take up the drive in a phased manner. “To begin with, we shut down four choultries at Sanjaynagar and Hebbal that were not just running without licences, but had their kitchen and dining area in the cellar,” she added.
